The University of West Bohemia in Pilsen announced Smuggler Ways on 16 October, a project to introduce visitors to historic smuggling trails and lesser-known places along the Czech–Bavarian border. The news is the project’s preparation, rather than a completed walking route opening today.
The university is working with Úhlava in Klatovy, Deggendorf Institute of Technology and the Přes hranici cultural association in Zwiesel. Planned outputs include an online guide, a printed book, a comic, excursions, lectures and thematic exhibitions on both sides of the border.
Coordinator Martina Kepka Vichrová says the portal should be ready in the middle of next year, with some lectures planned for next spring. The announcement does not yet provide specific dates, available routes or booking details. The cover is a conceptual AI illustration of a forest path.
