UWB announced its first awards for sustainability-focused final theses on 13 October. Among 21 nominated works, Jiří Fiala from the Faculty of Economics placed first for research into how the university can support environmental transformation in the Pilsen Region.
Jakub Herman from the Faculty of Applied Sciences placed second for work on energy management in hybrid trucks. Tereza Bartovská from the Faculty of Design and Art placed third for a concept using clay blocks to improve airflow and shade in overheated urban spaces.
These are recognised student research projects, not an announcement that the technologies have already been deployed commercially or by the city. See Barbora Poláková’s UWB report. The cover is a conceptual AI illustration, not documentation of a specific research prototype.
