The City of Pilsen confirmed on 8 October that its main city library building at Bedřicha Smetany 13 will remain open to visitors through 17 October 2026. Its collections will then be moved ahead of renovation, and the building will close for an extended period. No reopening date has been announced.
The library’s own instructions say loans made from 14 October must be returned no later than 30 October. Books borrowed from the main building can be returned to the Central Library for Adults from 19 to 30 October. From November, other city-library branches and book-return boxes will accept them. Branches will provide library services during the closure; check their current hours before visiting, as extended hours have been proposed but not yet specified.
