Pick a destination that fits your time
You do not need to hire a car to explore beyond Pilsen. Start by deciding whether you want a short town visit, an uphill walk or a longer day around a historic site. Then check a train for the exact date, including the return. The rail journey is only part of the outing: add time from the destination station to the place you want to see.
Starý Plzenec: a smaller town and a walk
This is a useful option when you want to combine a train journey with time outside. You can plan a walk towards the rotunda, or make Radyně Castle the focus of a longer outing. These are different walks: do not assume the castle is beside the station. Study the route and elevation before committing, especially with a stroller or limited mobility. Rokycany: choose your main stop
Decide between a town-centre visit and an outing focused on the demarcation-line museum. Put your chosen destination on a map first; a museum visit needs its own opening-hours check and time to walk there. For an easy afternoon, one main stop and a meal break can be enough.
Plasy: allow more room in the day
Consider Plasy if the monastery is your main interest. Plan around the visitor route or tour you actually want to book, rather than arriving with a list of several sites to complete. Check what is open on your date and the language of any guided visit. Leave room for the walk back to the station.
