Choose one main attraction before you arrive
A day in Pilsen works best with a simple plan: explore the centre, have lunch and leave a generous block for one visit. Choose the Pilsner Urquell brewery if brewing interests you, an Adolf Loos interior for architecture, or a museum for a slower indoor afternoon. Check the tour language and reserve your preferred slot directly with the venue. Do not assume every departure is in English.
Morning: find your bearings in the old town
Start at náměstí Republiky, the main square around St Bartholomew’s Cathedral. Keep the Czech name saved on your phone: it is useful for maps and meeting points. Walk the surrounding streets at your own pace, then continue towards the park ring and Mlýnská strouha. This is a suggested sequence, not a timed guided route; stop for coffee or shorten the walk as you wish.
If you want to climb the cathedral tower or enter another attraction, check that day’s access and allow extra time. Seeing a building from the outside does not require the same ticket or time commitment as a tour.
Afternoon: one visit, with space around it
Place lunch before or after your reservation, rather than squeezing two timed visits together. For a brewery tour, include the walk to the meeting point and arrival time specified on your ticket. Look up Praha hl. n. → Plzeň hl. n. in the Czech Railways planner for your travel date. Choose your return before booking an attraction and allow a buffer for the walk back to the station.
