First decide whether you need a ride
For an old-town visit, compare the walk from your accommodation or arrival point with the public-transport route. Save the Czech name of your destination and its nearest stop. In timetables, Plzeň hl. n. means the main railway station; street and stop names will usually remain in Czech even when the interface is in English.
City transport and buying a ticket
PMDP operates trams, trolleybuses and buses. Onboard contactless ticket machines are an option for buying a city ticket. Read the available ticket types and confirmation on the machine; do not assume touching your card without selecting a product completes a purchase.
Choose by the journey you are making, including transfers and the time you will need. Before paying, check the ticket’s zone, duration and passenger category. Keep the ticket or purchase evidence available for inspection according to the instructions for the product you bought. Arriving by train or travelling beyond the city
A ticket to Pilsen by train does not automatically settle every onward trip. Read what your fare includes. For day trips outside Pilsen, check the regional route and fare separately: city transport and a longer rail journey may need different zones or tickets. Use the Czech Railways planner to confirm connections on your date.
Travelling with children, luggage or a stroller
Look up the current conditions for your family’s ages and any luggage before buying tickets. Do not assume a child’s entitlement in another country applies unchanged here. If step-free access matters, check the particular service and boarding arrangements, and leave time for a later departure if necessary.
