FN Plzeň announced clinical use of the radiopharmaceutical ⁶⁸Ga-Trivehexin with PET/MRI on 15 October. PET/MRI combines positron emission tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. According to the hospital, the approach aims to distinguish tumour tissue from inflammatory changes and help plan further care.
The announcement highlights pancreatic tumours as well as lung, head and neck tumours. A multidisciplinary team decides on use; this is not an invitation for anyone to book the examination.
The radiopharmaceutical does not yet have standard medicinal-product registration. The hospital says use is subject to a special approval regime involving SÚKL and the Czech Health Ministry. This concerns diagnosis, not a new cancer cure or guaranteed outcome. The claim of a world first is the hospital’s and has not been independently verified here. Original FN Plzeň announcement.
