Prague restores maximum fares for metered taxis

From 21 October, maximum rates are CZK 70 per trip, CZK 42/km and CZK 7 per waiting minute. Journeys must start and finish in Prague.

What you need to know

From 21 October, maximum rates are CZK 70 per trip, CZK 42/km and CZK 7 per waiting minute. Journeys must start and finish in Prague.

From 21 October 2026, Prague again sets maximum fares for taxi vehicles that are legally required to have a taximeter. Price decree 3/2026 covers journeys that both start and finish within Prague.

The maximum price components are a one-off charge of CZK 70 when the trip starts, CZK 42 per kilometre and CZK 7 per minute of waiting. The limits include VAT and no extra surcharges may be added to the maximum price. Operators may charge less.

The rule applies to all passengers using this category of taxi, regardless of nationality. Do not automatically apply these rates to every app-booked trip: the legal requirement for a taximeter determines the covered category.
