The Czech Trade Inspection Authority (ČOI) issued a warning on 20 October about counterfeit goods ahead of Christmas shopping. It covers physical markets, online shops and online marketplaces.
According to the authority, an unusually low price can indicate a possible counterfeit. That is a reason to examine an offer more carefully, rather than proof that every cheap product is counterfeit. ČOI also highlights toys and Christmas light strings among risky products found during inspections.
The warning is relevant to anyone shopping in Czechia, regardless of citizenship. Take these risks into account, especially when an exceptionally attractive price is the main reason for choosing a product.
